It has been used for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain, fever reduction, detoxification, and improving circulation, not to mention the general sense of well-being that often follows treatment. Cupping involves the creation of a vacuum in a glass or plastic cup that is then placed on specific points on the body, usually the back or limbs, pulling on the muscle and skin to help relieve tension and improve circulation. Increased circulation can help release sore muscles and improve local metabolism to both eliminate toxins and bring in fresh oxygenated blood.
